Kathy Jones was born in 1947 and brought up in Gateshead, County Durham. She went to Methodist Sunday School, and in her early teens chose to be baptised. After university and doing research for BBC scientific programmes she lived alone in rural Wales, meditating and studying theosophical texts. In the 70s she moved to Glastonbury, Somerset, where she discovered goddess stories in the legends and the landscape and found ways of expressing a Goddess spirit in ritual and drama. She has co-founded several community institutions which include the Goddess and feminine spirituality in their constitutions, such as the Isle of Avalon Foundation, Bridget Healing Centre and the Library of Avalon, and in 1996, while recovering from breast cancer, she organised the first Goddess Conference.
"When my hair began to fall out with the chemotherapy, I decided to have my head shaved, so as to take my power rather than have it taken from me. We made it a death and rebirth ceremony. And two friends shaved their heads, too, so that I wouldn't be alone."
"Our Lady Wisdom called me to transform my life. I've had a great realisation of the oneness of the soul. Our soul is expressed through all sorts of personalities, but in essence it's one. I am you, you are me, we are one."
