Carrie and WidWinner in the Sacred Earth Drama Trust competition, this is a modern re-telling of the Welsh Ker and Ceridwen myth (similar to the Greek Persephone and Demeter story) in which a young woman goes into a dark cave and realises that life is not - and should not be - all sweetness and light. Carrie defies her fearful mother to go motor-biking with the gang, and ends up crashed and in hospital. There she's cared for by the fierce Sister Wid, and realises that this fierceness is part of her healing. In the end Carrie and the gang have to face the question: is there life outside the world of bikes? And how does biking affect the world around us? There's a cast of 10 plus lots of extras. The set and costumes are minimal but there's plenty of scope for inventive lighting and musical effects. Suitable for secondary school age, or mixed age-groups. The script is available from Alison, price £5 (including permission to photocopy and perform). For more information send her an email at the address on the home page.
